London, October 3, 2022. The 6th annual Swiss wine promotional tasting took place in London for the first time since March 2020.

Some twenty producers from the different wine regions of Switzerland support their local distributors who welcome one hundred trade professionals for a full day of tasting.

A showcase for Swiss wines

The event takes place at 67 Pall Mall, the prestigious private members’ wine club in London (and now with clubs in Verbier and Singapore). This showcase tasting attracts an impressive representation of wine professionals: Masters of Wine, head sommeliers from Michelin-starred restaurants, buyers from progressive wine merchants and leading wine writers.

The daytime event for professionals is followed by an evening tasting for club members. They are always eager to discover the wines of Switzerland and explore the various regions. They love to learn about the country’s many local grape varieties and distinctive Alpine terroir. In the UK, 67 Pall Mall is the best place to go for Switzerland’s wines as the London club now lists an extensive range of over one hundred Swiss wines for members to enjoy.

The whole day is organised and led by two Swiss wine ambassadors at the Club, Jean-Francois Genoud and his associate Simon Hardy (WSET), both members of the club.

Swiss cheeses make the perfect match

The organisers are always keen to serve the wines presented alongside other specialities of Switzerland. This year they selected a trio of fine Swiss cheeses supplied by Käseswiss, a London-based specialist : Gruyère d’Alpage (FR), Toggenburger Nidelchäs (SG) and Tomme Fleurette (VD).

"There is widespread recognition that Switzerland deserves increased attention by wine lovers. The growing availability of Swiss wines is a sure sign that the UK wine trade is taking note," says an excited Simon Hardy DipWSET. He helped to compile a new Distribution Directory, launched at the event, which demonstrates the depth and breadth of choice available not only in London, but across the whole country.
