About the grape variety

An artificial cross between Ancellotta and Gamay, Galotta was obtained in 1981 at the Agroscope research centre in Pully (Switzerland) with the aim of creating a grape variety similar to Gamay, but richer in colour. Named after its parents, Galotta offers good resistance to grey rot.

Features

Galotta is used in blends and aged in barrels. It offers colourful and full-bodied wines, with notes of blackberry, and with firm tannins.
