If you like a glass of Swiss wine when eating out, you won't exactly find a wide selection in some restaurants. Although Switzerland has a rich wine culture with great diversity, some restaurants mainly offer foreign wines.

To be on the safe side before choosing a restaurant, you can rely on the help of the Swiss Wine Gourmet label. Over 1000 restaurants throughout Switzerland have already been awarded this label - and can therefore boast a good to excellent selection of local wines on the menu.

The Swiss Wine team is made up not only of wine connoisseurs, but also of proven gourmets. Here they present their favourite addresses that have been awarded the Swiss Gourmet label:

Les Ateliers, Vevey (VD)

At ‘Les Ateliers’ in Vevey, local and down-to-earth cuisine is combined with refined dishes made from regional and seasonal produce in a cosy setting. Perfect for a romantic dinner, a business lunch or an evening with friends.

Marine, Head of Communication

Café du Gothard, Fribourg (FR)

The iconic Café du Gothard is located in the heart of the historic centre of Fribourg. Here you can meet local artists, politicians of all colours and many other Swiss personalities. At the Gotthard, you can sample Fribourg specialities, including the traditional fondues Moitié-Moitié or Vacherin. The chalet soup and bratwurst are also a must. Muriel Hauser and her team welcome all visitors in a warm atmosphere.

Océane, Deputy Managing Director

Restaurant Schöngrün, Bern (BE)

The Schöngrün restaurant is located right next to the Paul Klee Centre in Bern. The light-flooded orangery with its exotic plants looks like a jungle. When it comes to the ingredients on the plates, however, the kitchen does not wander far afield, but limits itself to products from local suppliers. There are no wines from overseas, but there is a large selection from Swiss winegrowers.

Carmen, Communication Coordinator

Le Petit Corbeau, Chavornay (VD)

Small restaurant in the centre of Chavornay offering local cuisine. The menu of the Petit Courbeau changes according to the season and local partners are always mentioned. The manager is very good at making suggestions: you can specify a price range and he presents different wines to go with the food. The matching of food and wine is a big plus here!

Sidonie, project manager for wine tourism and wholesalers

Restaurant la Terrasse, Neuchâtel (NE)

I can warmly recommend the ‘Restaurant la Terrasse’, which is located at Neuchâtel railway station. It has a very nice terrace for the summer months and the menu is constantly updated depending on the season. It's very nice for a summer evening.

Fiona, Project Coordinator Export and Catering

Aux Trois Amis, Schernelz (BE)

The restaurant Aux Trois Amis overlooking Lake Biel not only serves fantastic dishes made from local and seasonal ingredients - guests also have a magnificent view of St Peter's Island and the Alps. Sommelier Cynthia Lauper's extensive wine list offers wines from the region as well as from all over Switzerland.
