Valais - White Wines

The very well-known Fendant is at the first place among Valais' white wines, followed by the Johannisberg representing 4% of the total production.
However, the canton of Valais also offers numerous specialities, both dry and sweet, among which some come from unique indigenous vines, such as the Amigne and the Petite Arvine, for instance.
The late-harvest and quality-controlled wines also undergo a remarkable evolution. These wines, which have the label "Grain noble confidentiel", are superb and can be rivals even to the dessert wine of Sauternes. They are coming from over-ripened grapes, either withered on the vine stock or botrytised (noble-rotted).
