Geneva - White Wines
Geneva's region is well-known for its delicate, subtle and sometimes slightly sparkling wines, which come from the Chasselas grape. Although the Chasselas is now representing around 40% of the total wine-production, it is constantly losing ground for the benefit of the red wines and other white varieties coming from different grapes, including the Chardonnay, the Aligoté, the Pinot Gris, and the Pinot Blanc, to which the Geneva's soils suit particularly well. The Riesling-Sylvaner and the Gewürztraminer are also cultivated here.
