Sylvaner
Synonymes: Johannisberg and Rhin (in the French-speaking Valais), Grüner Silvaner (in German Switzerland)
Originating from the Danube’s basin, the Sylvaner is quite widespread in well-exposed lands where it ripens later than the Chasselas, producing generous wines, with nice bouquet and a good acidity. It also gives late-harvest wines, although they are still quite rare. |
